Balancing Your MMA Training Workouts
If you’re a fighter, your MMA training workouts must be designed to give you the strength, power, and conditioning you need, without adding bulky mass or causing an injury. Certain aspects of your program should balance out what you do regularly in your mixed-martial arts skills training. For example, because you’re probably in the fighting stance a lot, your shoulders will have the tendency to round forward, so you’ll need to stretch the chest muscles and strengthen the back muscles to make sure you don’t get an injury of the shoulder. For strength, you have to improve your general strength in basic exercises like squats, deadlifts, lunges, and bench presses, then you can turn that strength into specific power for MMA. Either way, you’ve got to follow specifically designed MMA training workouts so you’re not wasting any of your time in the gym.
