The gateway to success

Kinds of R/O Water Systems

Simply put, reverse osmosis water systems, sometimes referred to as ultrafiltration, makes use of a semi-permeable membrane with microscopic openings, which allow water molecules and not larger materials to pass through.

Imagine a tube submerged in your water supply, covered at the end with the semi-permeable membrane. The unclean water initially passes through that tube (your filter), and through osmotic pressure, the contaminants in that water will be prevented from passing through the filter. Basically, this is how this water filtration system works.

There are different kinds of reverse osmosis water systems, depending on where you plan to place them. Choose among counter-tops, under-counters, or replacement filters. Some RO (reverse osmosis) filters even have an electrical charge, which is an added defense against other chemicals. You will need to clean your filter every once in a while to maintain its effectiveness. If you want less work, you can also buy RO filters with a built-in cleaning system for the membrane.
