Use Time Boxes to Improve Your Memory
Memory has a lot to do with concentration. If you can’t concentrate on what you want to remember, it won’t be placed into your memory. One useful trick for enhancing concentration, especially during studying, is the concept of “time boxes”.
Sometimes all that is needed to enhance your focus is some type of pressure. Setting a time limit (time box) for what you want to remember is one way to create such pressure.
Here’s how to create and use a time box: When you are ready to study, find a quiet study spot and set a timer. Allow yourself only “x” number of minutes to learn what you need to learn. Keep checking the timer as you read and learn. Take the deadline seriously!
That’s really all there is to it. Simple, effective.
Improving your ability to concentrate will help improve your memory. Try using time boxes the next time your need to learn something new, and you will likely remember much more of the material than you would have otherwise.
