To Medicate or Not to Medicate – That is the Question
When I accompanied my daughter and grandson Mickey on a recent trip to the pediatrician, I talked to the parents while I was waiting. Apparently every other child was taking medication because of their ADHD. I knew that my grandson had been diagnosed and asked my daughter if she was giving him any medication. She told me that she had read more than one ritalin study which made her nervous enough to choose natural supplements instead. Fortunately my grandson’s doctor respects parents’ choices and even offers suggestions for alternatives to medications. Mickey still has a lot of energy but he is doing well in his first-grade classwork and has many friends, so I think my daughter has made an excellent decision.
