How to Cope with Chronic Sciatica
Having to deal with mild or short term sciatica is difficult enough, but I have watched my mother deal with chronic sciatica for several years and she has had several different treatments to help with the pain. When regular anti-inflammatory medications did not work for her, my mother’s doctor prescribed muscle relaxants which did seem to provide a bit of relief. When the medications seemed to stop working as well as they had been, my mother received an epidural corticosteroid injection. We know it was not without side effects, but they have been mild and my mother can get several months of relief from each injection, which helps her enjoy life, and her grandchildren, much more.
