Diet’s Role in Causing Pimples Is Poorly Understood

It’s an old cliche that foods like pizza and potato chips cause pimples.  However, no medically sound research has ever proven this.  Today, the consensus is that oily foods don’t necessarily cause oily skin.  However, diet does play an important role in our overall health in ways that are only beginning to be understood by modern science.  Current research is now focusing on the role that trans fats play in inflammation, which is suspected as one of the causes of heart disease, stroke, and even Alzheimer’s disease.  Inflammation may also be one of the causes of acne.  Considering their overall detrimental effect on your health, trans fats are best kept out of your diet.
