Alcohol is cheaper than bottled water
Analysis of retailers has found that major chains of supermarkets are now selling their own brand alcohol at a cheaper price than Bottled Water. The charity called addaction did research into drug and alcohol and found that despite widespread condemnation for creating and adding to the binge drinking culture that some stores continue to sell own brand alcohol at 23p a can, far less than a bottle of water. Evidence shows that binge drinkers, young drinkers and harmful drinkers tend to choose the cheapest alcohol on offer. Compared to the 1980’s alcohol is now almost 70% more affordable as a proportion of income.
